The White Simulator: Engineering the Ultimate Active Feedback Training Rig

At Rocky Sim Racing, our mission is singular: we build and deliver uncompromising, turn-key simulators for drivers who demand the very best. Whether we are dialing in chassis profiles for a 992 Porsche Cup car or a Ferrari 296 Challenge, we know exactly what it takes to blur the line between the virtual grid and real-world asphalt.

For our latest commission, the mandate was highly specific. The client—who is utilizing this rig as a dedicated training tool for his turbo E36 BMW track weapon—wanted the absolute maximum amount of tactile, physical feedback possible, without utilizing a full D-BOX motion platform.

The result is a masterpiece of modern sim racing technology. We call it The White Simulator.

Here is a breakdown of how we engineered this bespoke build, blending high-end aesthetics with the bleeding edge of active sim racing technology.

The Foundation: Bespoke Aesthetics and Zero-Flex Rigidity

A high-end simulator should look as good in your luxury garage or office as the vehicles you drive on the track.

  • The Chassis: We started with the industry-leading Advanced Sim Racing (ASR) Pro Chassis. Built from heavy-duty aluminum profile, it offers a zero-flex foundation crucial for high-torque direct drive wheels and heavy load-cell/active braking.

  • Evo Wheel Deck: Outfitted with the Evo wheel deck, this rig allows for maximum, millimeter-perfect adjustability so the driver's ergonomic triangle matches their real-world E36 perfectly.

  • The Finish: To achieve the client's vision, the chassis was completely wrapped in a striking gloss white by the artisans at Executive Wraps. Rocky Sim Racing then fabricated custom white end-caps to seamlessly match.

  • Cable Management: As with all RSR builds, this rig features our proprietary, engineered mounting and data-center-level cable management system. No messy wires, no clutter—just clean, purposeful lines.

  • The Seat: A Trak Racer GT seat anchors the driver, providing the deep bolstering required to handle the physical feedback of the rig.

The "Active" Revolution: Feeling the Car

Because this build foregoes a traditional motion platform, we leaned heavily into the latest generation of active hardware. Every input on this simulator fights back, communicating mechanical grip, chassis load, and drivetrain stress directly to the driver.

  • Simucube 3 Pro: The heart of the steering column. This next-generation direct-drive wheelbase provides unparalleled fidelity, communicating the absolute limit of the front tires' grip.

  • Simucube Active Pro Pedals (Throttle & Brake): Force-feedback isn't just for steering anymore. These servo-driven pedals allow us to map the exact ABS vibrations, brake fade, and throttle resistance of a real race car.

  • Heusinkveld Clutch: A proven, ultra-reliable mechanical clutch pedal to complete the footwell.

  • Simucube Emergency Button Box: Neatly mounted directly below the Stream Deck, this new addition allows for immediate, ease-of-access adjustments to the active ecosystem on the fly.

  • Qubic Belt Tensioner: To simulate the G-forces of heavy braking and cornering, the Qubic active seatbelt system dynamically tightens against the driver's collarbones, tricking the brain into feeling deceleration.

  • Simagic Hydraulic Handbrake: Outfitted with a proprietary haptic motor, this handbrake sends physical pulses through the billet handle when the rear tires lock.

  • BDH Active Shifter: (Currently inbound to the shop!) This is the final piece of the puzzle. The BDH Active is the world’s first true physics-driven H-pattern shifter. Using its own servo motor, it actively replicates drivetrain load, engine vibrations, and the mechanical resistance of a stressed gearbox.

RSR Note: When you combine active steering, active pedals, active shifting, and active harness tensioning, the level of immersion achieved is staggering. You are no longer playing a simulation; you are physically wrestling with a vehicle.

Ready to Commission Your Build?

The White Simulator is a testament to what is possible when you combine top-tier hardware with professional, real-world setup experience. By utilizing profiles mirrored from real track cars, our client will be able to shave tenths off his lap times from the comfort of his home, long before his turbo E36 hits the tarmac.

Whether you are looking to master the Ferrari Challenge, prep for a weekend in your Porsche 992, or just want the ultimate luxury tech piece for your home, Rocky Sim Racing builds simulators without compromise.
